Why
Belize
The
secret is out, the real estate market in Belize is doing very well.
Timing is
everything in the real estate market and there is money to be made here.
Belize has no capital gains or inheritance tax and off shore banking has
always been popular. Belize is the only English speaking country in
Central America.
Belize joined
CARICOM in 1974, Caribbean Community and Common
Market. The 15 members of CARICOM have decided to integrate from a
common market to a single market.
The CARICOM Single
Market and Economy (CSME)
The objectives of the Community, identified in Article 6 of the
Revised Treaty, are: to improve standards of living and work; the full
employment of labor and other factors of production; accelerated,
coordinated and sustained economic development and convergence;
expansion of trade and economic relations with third States; enhanced
levels of international competitiveness; organization for increased
production and productivity; achievement of a greater measure of
economic leverage and effectiveness of Member States in dealing with
third States, groups of States and entities of any description and the
enhanced co-ordination of Member States’ foreign and foreign economic
policies and enhanced functional co-operation.

Investing in
Belize is popular with foreigners now that the real estate market and
economy are doing poor in the U. S. Investors from the states have shown
a lot of interest. Belize is a member of the British Common Wealth,
which means British law applies and all contracts are in English.
Foreigners have every right and are encouraged to buy property and get
residence in Belize. Because of the British common law the property
buying process is easy to follow and fully disclosed. Over the next 12
years 27% of the U.S. population will retire. That means 77 million baby
boomers will be looking for a place to retire. A large percentage will
be relocating to the Caribbean.
What you should
buy depends on your investment portfolio. It could be an oceanfront
luxury condo or beachfront lot. You might want to supplement your income
by investing in a small established business or start one of your own
like a hotel or restaurant. I see many people running eBusinesses from
here and living the dream. Keep in mind when buying real estate here in
Belize there is a government transfer fee of 5%. Other countries are
much higher, Jamaica is 20%. |
