English Speaking – Belize
English Speaking – Most people are drawn to this area of the Caribbean because most people speak English.
Belize maybe made up of many different cultures but when you come to Belize you feel right at home because English is the official language of Belize. An English based Creole and Spanish are also widely spoken. Tim loves to speak Creole with the Belizeans, and the Belizeans, have fun listening to Tim speak Creole with his Boston accent.
Belize is made up of many cultures: The population of Belize was about 248,800 (2000 census) comprising Mayas, Mestizo (Hispanic Indian), Creole (African-European), Garifuna (African-Indian), East Indians, German
Mennonites, and also recent immigrants like Asians, Europeans, Americans, Canadians and others. One thing is for sure we all speak the same language, :O).
One of the reasons Tim and I choose Belize was that we could communicate with others. We’ve had so many friends head off to Mexico and other countries, buy property, start a business and then come back and tell us how bad it was because they can not speak the language. The stories maybe funny but the reality it’s not. It is not fun when you have to have an interpreter to do your legal work for you. Sometimes you may not know if your signing a parking ticket or you just got married ha ha. But this is no joke.
All contracts and legal documents in other countries are written in the language of that country. You don’t have to worry when you come to Belize because everything is written in English. Not only is everything in English, but the law here is that everything has to be written so that it does not take an attorney to understand what you are reading. You can feel comfortable doing business in Belize as long as you know who your working with.
We were in Mexico once and we couldn’t even talk to the cab driver because he didn’t speak English and us, “No hablo español“. We had a great time in Mexico, but we were very happy to get back to Belize were we felt right at home.

We have made a lot of friends here in Belize.
We invite you to come and check it out for yourself. If you have any questions just email us and we will get right back to ya.
