First storm for Belize this year

Saturday, June 26th, 2010 | No Comments

NEMO PRESS RELEASE No. 3

At 6:00 pm TD No. 1 was centered near latitude 16.6 N, longitude 83.7 W. This position is about 305 miles east southeast of Belize City. Maximum sustained winds are 35 mph and further strengthening is likely to occur. TD No. 1 could become a Tropical Storm tonight with winds reaching 40 mph. NEMO has put into effect a Tropical Storm warning for the entire coast of Belize.

4 to 8 inches of rainfall is being predicted which increase the risk of flooding in the south. TD No.1 is moving towards the west‐northwest at 10 miles per hour and is expected to be in our vicinity by late aturday. The present forecast track takes the system just to the north of Belize with landfall Saturday evening.

Any deviation from the forecasted track is of concern. The public therefore is strongly advised to monitor, stay alert, and take the necessary actions.

People along the coast and on the cayes are encouraged to evacuate early, once the NEMO declares a Phase. Mariners and fisher‐folk are strongly encouraged to seek safe harbor. NEMO hereby advises the organizers of any maritime sporting activities over the weekend to postpone such events.

Motorists are once again advised that increased rainfall can cause flash flooding and render roads impassable.

The general public is strongly advised to:
- Review your emergency plans (family, community, business)
- Ensure you have adequate food, water and medicine
- Confirm preparations if seeking shelter. Know where you are going and make sure to
inform relatives and friends of your plans, whereabouts and intended destination.

Public Officers are encouraged to remain alert and ready in the event they need to report for duty. NEMO District Coordinators are convening committee meetings with their District Emergency Committees and are making the necessary arrangements to respond. The Security Forces are prepositioning personnel and equipment.

Belize, Real Estate

ambergris caye  real estate update

COULD YOU LIVE HERE ?

COULD YOU LIVE HERE?

Been extremely busy the past few months.  The Recovering Real Estate market here on the island has made nice strides in 2010.

TAKE IT EASY !

TAKE IT EASY !

What has been driving our island market has been the great deal and negotiating abilities of buyers, sellers and the agents that bring them together. We have clients buying property for as little as 10 % down at 10% with a term of up to 5-8 yrs. People who have not been able to get in the market are now making their move.

THIS COULD BE YOUR FRONT YARD

THIS COULD BE YOUR FRONT YARD

Telecommuters (on-line workers) and International workers (sales people, oil rig workers, International contractors) are now calling Belize their home. The friendly people and the turquoise waters are not the only reasons they are moving to Belize. Another big reason seems to be TAXES! We have some clients that live in some states that are squeezing them for more money$ in new and higher taxes. The Fed Government threatening to raise capital gains, the constantly increasing cost of medications and health care, the dwindling economy, unemployment on the rise are all reasons that are forcing Americans to rethink where they want to live the rest of their lives. This will continue to stimulate our local economy that has  needed a shot in the arm because of tourism being down.

ROOM WITH A VIEW

ROOM WITH A VIEW

The reasons why people are taking less vacations are the same reasons there are more and more people exploring living abroad in other English speaking countries.

RAT RACE ? NO THANK YOU. KAYAK RACE FINISH LINE !

RAT RACE ? NO THANK YOU. KAYAK RACE FINISH LINE !

The people we speak to are amazed how simple and fun  it can be to relocate. The people that can’t make the move now are locking themselves in for the future by taking advantage of the loans being offered by the sellers. They are buying their piece of paradise with a land purchase, commercial property, a condominium or whatever  fits their dreams . We have been watching  the 2 and 3 bedroom condo inventory on the MLS thin out over the past 4 months. This is guaranteed to stimulate the market for houses.

Palapa finished recently By Ms. Eve , nice job Eve . We are so happy to see our community pitch in and get things done . You are my hero ,

Here is the new kitchen finished by Eve and Kate , this was done first , then Eve tackled the Palapa .

I would say they are very happy children , they always make my day.

For Large donations contact someone here in San Pedro , we will contact the appropriate people , we will make it a breeze .

Big thanks to Jim and Susie , for the supplies . We thank you for your wonderful donation , The 5 subject note  books were a hit  . Mrs. Kay was thrilled , she immediately said the 5 subject notebooks will go to the teachers , and the 1 subject notebooks to the kids . Jim and Susie were very generous , this suitcase was filled (paper is heavy) . Thank -you , unfortunately I was off island on business and did not get a chance to meet you guys . XX

Contributions :   We will be happy to facilitate your donation . Remember , paper is heavy and it is the thought that counts .

The future of Belize will soon be in there hands.

We need educational tools like flash cards ,  Sticky Notes are a luxury for the principal and administration . Composition books  , rulers , PENCILS , erasers , Pens ,  band-aids , vitamins , are the easiest and needed the most . Volunteers and teachers are always welcome , contact us ;  we will put you in touch with the administration .  Next time you go to the Dentist ask for a donation for the kids . Practice makes perfect

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010 | No Comments

Volunteer Firefighters in San Pedro Practice for perfection . You guys ROCK

Our community has worked hard to get this hardware ,  this was donated from one of our sister cities .

The truck is designed to pump water from all available water sources , canals , ponds , ocean and our hydrants around town .

I plan to go down and see the chief and thank him and the guys . They took this drill very seriously and performed well . My personal opinion is this is what makes Belize – VOLUNTEERISM ,  hard work ,  friendship and Belizean Pride . Thanks guys for risking your lives for our community , may your goodwill  come back to you 100 (X)  times . They have been practicing regularly now for some time . I am sure they could use some help and equipment , hint , hint . The Chief is the best we have had, can’t wait to meet him.
